the trek is over, the beard and hair are gone, and now it's back to school.

The first day on the bike and about two hours into the day, on a gentle climb, ok, i had the bike in granny gear, so not so gentle i wasn't sweating my butt off, and i get a flat. and, i did not pack a spare tube, patches; yes, tubes; no. i'm on route 54 heading to jefferson city and at that point about thirty miles from it. i get off the bike, walk the rest of the way up the climb, see that an exit was not far ahead--the road is two lanes, divided highway, plenty shoulder and great - for the bike...
This is going to be short... I have decided to end skating and finish the trek to Olney via bicycle. After taking the opportunity to make it home to IL for a visit with some family and friends, the skating felt done, so I made it so. I came back to where I had left off and brought back my bike and bought an attachment for the jogger on the way and will finish the last 400ish miles with it. SOOOoooooo... I am actually plenty ready to finish the trip and after getting in a rental car and cruising through a Taco Bell drive through, well, put a fork in me, I'm done.
